Choosing a Blog niche, simply to say a Blog topic or deciding what to Blog about comes as a challenge to many aspiring Bloggers.
It is similar to choosing a marriage partner. It requires in depth thinking, good judgement and time.
It's never one of those things You jump into and conclude without much thought. It contributes greatly to the success or failure of your Blog so, You have to choose the perfect one.
How do You know if You have chosen a perfect Blog niche?
"A perfect Blog niche is one that is suitable and profitable."
When I say suitable, I mean: You can feel some butterflies in your stomach when You discuss this topic.
You can talk about it for hours and not get bored or get tired.
You can remain in the niche for five years and more and not lose relevance.
Coming up with what topics to discuss won't seem like work to You.
And when I say profitable, it means there are proofs of high google search volume.
The competition is high.
Your niche is narrow but not too niche.
Now You can tell if a niche is suitable and profitable for You, right? Good !
Let's move on.
The following are popular factors that influence Blog niche decision, in no order of hierarchy or preference:
 Profit
 Passion
 Problem
 Expertise
 Experience
1. Profit: the profit is not limited to but I will focus solely on money.
The majority of the people who think of starting a Blog or eventually start a Blog do because they have read it somewhere that if You have a Blog, You can earn money while You sleep. This is true but it's only possible after You have done the work.
That is why there is gridlock on the over travelled entertainment Blog road.
It's not a bad idea if You want to start a Blog because You want to make money. Money makes the world go round after all.
But, make sure You are keen on providing value before thinking of getting money. If You are desperate to make the money, You'll be frustrated to quitting if the money doesn't come as early/as much as You thought it will.
If You are thinking of making a move in the "money direction," I recommend the following mega niches: Money making/Finance, Health/
Fitness, Relationship/Dating.
PS You increase your chances of survival by narrowing down your niche.
2. Passion: passion is that strong, extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, desire You have for something e.g. painting.
Every Blogging Blogger will advise You build your Blog, in fact it extends to any business around your passion.
It's easy. It's highly rewarding. You'll connect with and build quality relationships with people whose passion are alike.
The list is endless.
I am passionate about teaching, that's why I can teach Blogging effectively.
What are You passionate about? Kids? Cars? Art?
Passion is a green light that your Blog niche is perfect if You are strategic and if the passion is marketable.
3. Problem: one of the leading reasons people visit Blogs is to find solution to their problem.
If You can spot a problem and find a solution to it, You can build a Blog around that and it will be successful.
Look around You: what are people struggling with? How can You help the situation?
There was a time in my life when I was overly shy.
During adolescence, talking to the opposite sex was Herculean labour, so I rarely did it.
It got to a point that I became really bitter, fed up and had to seek solution.
Surfing the net, I stumbled into a Blog that had exactly what I was looking for.
The Blogger there had been through what I was going through there was a connection.
He took his time to look into the problem and found a lasting solution, and on discovering there are innumerable people that's in the same bitter shoes he used to be in, he built a Blog around it.
I spent fortune on purchasing books from the Blog because they were really helpful.
There are undergraduates out there looking for internship placements/opportunities. There are crafts people out there looking for an online market place for their wares/produce. Help them.
You too can make money Blogging if You can build a Blog around a topic that solves people's problem.
4. Expertise: what do You know? What strengths do You have? What have You learnt that You can teach? What relevant skills have You acquired that people want to learn?
Do You get applauded at your place of work for being the most polite, customers friendly staff, apprentice or intern? That's a strength.
Do other teachers in your school beckon on You to help them explain a difficult/complex topic to the students in the dummy way? That's a strength.
Your answers are really great Blog topics.
My friend cum coach, Promise Excel mentioned in one of his recent Facebook posts that, "it's no longer what You have gone to school to study. It's now what do You know? How does it help me or my business?."
5. Experience: turn your mess to message.
What You have gone through and overcame can be a really great Blog topic: be it a bitter experience or an ugly illness that threatened your life.
Did You go from the bottom of the class to the top like Ben Carson?
Were You able to manage and conquer an illness that claims the life of many?
Did You once have a Saul kid that You managed into a Paul or Samuel?
Was there a time your marriage was on the rocks but now is in Paradise?
Yes, think ! Think ! How did You do it?
There are innumerable people still struggling in that same bitter shoes You got out of triumphed.
That's a great topic You can build a Blog around where You will teach them those step-by-step strategic formulas You used.
Reminder: You are a solution provider. Don't wait on any Prophet's validation to unleash that power to heal others of their wound.
Here we come !
Have You found a topic You can connect with?
Do You need any more clarity?
What's the struggle?
